is it odd...

So this little list has been floating around the blogosphere. Here is my own list of things that you may think are odd about me.

Is it odd that I...

- love bagels but hate cream cheese. toasted with butter for me!
- hate top sheets. they always end up crinkled up and the end of the bed anyways.
- think that the best tv shows should be watched multiple times. Particularly, Gilmore Girls, HIMYM, One Tree Hill, ect.
- avoid taking showers just so that I won't have to do my hair afterwards. It's such a time sucker. I would love to have someone there to always blow dry my hair for me!
- always feel the need to be multitasking.
- can never seem to keep my clothes in my closet. They somehow, magically, always end up on the floor!
- have to take off my jeans the minute I get home. I will never think jeans are comfortable.
- hate mustard. But every time I look at the calorie posting at Subway and see how much less calories mustard is than mayonnaise I question my tastebuds.
- crave salty foods more often than sweets.
- feel like I could sleep all day.
- could go to Target every day and find something to find every time!
- love when old men (and all men in general) hold the door open for me. It makes my day and warms my heart.
- am one of the most paranoid people I know? But sometimes, I don't think this is a bad thing!

in other news...

I have one of the busiest weeks at school this week. One presentation tomorrow, an exam and a quiz on Wednesday, and then working on my huge paper which the rough draft is due next Tuesday. And there's the group project that my team has been major slacking on. I really dislike group projects. My eyes have been really strained since my prescription changed so hopefully the headaches subside soon to make this week a little more tolerable.

In better news, Thomas is coming to visit me this weekend! I am so excited to show him where I reside during the week :).

laundry day

image via weheartit

Happy Veteran's Day! Today I am celebrating my day off with some laundry, which isn't so bad with a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice latte, The Proposal to watch, and my cutest little neice and nephew pups to cuddle with. It was so nice not having to set my alarm for 6:55 this morning :).

I'm in the process of redesigning my blog. Hopefully I'll finish it tonight while I'm procrastinating writing my research paper and making a powerpoint presentation (hehe). But, I did finish my new header last night! Happy Wednesday! I hope you're enjoying your day off (if you're lucky enough to get one!)

off to wonderland

This Halloween Thomas and I dressed up as, yes, Alice and the Mad Hatter. We were going for the new Tim Burton Mad Hatter look that Johnny Depp pulls off so well. I think Thomas pulled it off pretty well, if I do say so myself :). I on the other hand thought that Tim Burton's Alice was a little too plain Jane. I wanted to make my Alice a little more quirky. Add some striped tights and crazy eyelashes, mission accomplished! We had so much fun putting our costumes together--vintage shopping, sewing, crafting, orange hair spray painting and a ton of white makeup. We loved dressing up together, the first time in 3 years! We had a good Halloween which started off finishing our costumes, getting ready and chili and cornbread (a great tradition that my mom does every Halloween). We headed off to a friend's party which was so much fun!

The infamous 10/6 (does anyone know the significance of that??)

So yes, Halloween was a blast. One of my favorite holidays. Although I'm not so much a fan of the scary/gory aspect of it, I love dressing up and celebrating fall (the large amount of candy consumption isn't too bad either ;) ). Now I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving, yum. And the prospect of the semester coming to a close.

On another note, Starbucks is rolling out their red holiday cups tomorrow. Um, I am not ready for that. And Target was all decked out in holiday decorations, the minute you walk into the store. Seriously, let's let fall last a little longer please. I love Christmas, but I love fall too! And I just can't get myself in the holiday mood the second November is upon us.

How was your Halloween? Are you busting out your Christmas tree already?

hello, weekend.

Mmmm fall :)

Oh, the lack of posting once again. Whoops. I plan on posting more, I promise.

This weekend I am staying up here at school instead of making the trek down to Bakersfield and today I started my weekend off with a toffee nut latte.
My weekend should be filled with cleaning/rearranging my room, brunch with my seester followed by shopping, Hocus Pocus watching and popcorn with my roommate, and lots of sleep. Hopefully I can fit some studying in somewhere in there.

Hopefully you all have a wonderful fall filled weekend!

a family recipe

Unbaked cookies! For as long as I can remember this recipe has been made in our family and for as long as my mom can remember this recipe has been made. Maybe even for as long as my grandma can remember, who knows. I remember being around 11 or 12 years old and taking this recipe into my own hands. Ever since then I get bugged to make it all the time. I usually make it about once or twice a year. And now I'm sharing with all of you!

What you will need:
I doubled the recipe (more to share!) which made about 50 cookies.
  • 1/2 cup of butter or 1 stick
  • 1/2 cup of milk (any kind will do)
  • 2 cups of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter
  • 3 cups of quick oats
  • 1/3 cup of cocoa powder (unsweetened)
Directions:
Combine milk, butter, sugar and cocoa powder in a large pot and stir consistently over medium to low heat until butter is melted. Continue stirring the mixture until you see the first big bubble appear (very important!). Let the mixture boil for about 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter and stir until well melted into the mixture. Add quick oats. Stir. Drop onto wax paper using a tablespoon. Let cool completely and enjoy :).

even though it's not techically anymore...

Happy 20th Birthday Thomas!

Today was a wonderful day, lunch with good friends, presents, Transformers II (a little long for my liking but I still very much enjoyed it), Funfetti cake (rainbow chip frosting of course), and good quality time. This is the third birthday of Thomas's that I have spent with him. I love seeing how much he has grown into such a wonderful man. I fall more and more in love with him every day, even though not every day is perfect, and some are far from perfect. However, we are growing into adulthood together, and I think its a wonderful journey to take with someone :). He is truly the greatest boyfriend and the best, best friend I could ever wish for.

summer movie list

It seems like there are so many good movies this summer and it seems like I am seeing more and more movie trailers of movies I want to see. This is a little list of movies that I have seen and also cannot wait to see!

  • Year One. I saw this movie about a month ago. Michael Cera is amazingly funny but the story line was boring and even though there were good moments, I would say it's a wait until DVD movie. Plus Jack Black kind of grosses me out.)
  • The Proposal. Just saw this one a few days ago. I have loved Sandra Bullock ever since this movie. I loved this movie and can't wait to add it to my DVD collection. Even Thomas found the movie enjoyable :)
*edit* OH! and how can i forget The Time Traveler's Wife. I bought the book today and I cannot wait to another great love story :)

What movies have you seen this summer/can't wait to see?
